(AUBURNDALE, Fla.) – Walsh's three-game winning streak was snapped by Minnesota State-Mankato by a score of 11-3 in its fifth game of the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational this afternoon. The Cavaliers dropped to 5-2 on the season, while the Mavericks improved to 5-4.
The Cavs took the early lead when Marcus Bobb hit a sacrificed fly to score Jordan Grubb in the top of the third, but Mankato responded with six runs in the bottom of the frame and two more in the fourth.
Grubb scored on a wild pitch in the fifth, but the Mavericks answered once again with a pair in the bottom of the inning and another in the sixth.
Aidan Mlachak took the loss in his first decision of the season.
The Maroon and Gold will return to action tomorrow against Minnesota State-Duluth for the second time this week. The Cavs defeated the Bulldogs on Monday 15-5 in seven innings. First pitch is scheduled for 9 a.m.
