Baseball Falls In Final Game In Florida

(AUBURNDALE, Fla.) – The Walsh baseball team closed out its games in the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational with a 14-5 loss to Lewis at Myrtle Park No. 8 Satruday afternoon. The Cavaliers are now 7-3 on the year and went 5-3 in their games in the Sunshine State.

Tyson Lautanen put the Cavs on the board in the bottom of the second with a double to left field that scored Jordan Grubb and Austin Szink. That made the score 3-2 in favor of the Flyers, but Lewis was able to add onto its lead with nine runs over the next five innings.

Walsh's final three runs all came in the sixth when Austin Szink hit his third home run of the season and Lautanen added his third RBI of the game. Szink sailed a pitch over the left field fence to score Andrew Stalnaker as well, while Lautanen singled in Grubb once again with a knock to right.

MJ Nara took the loss to fall to 1-1 on the year.

Walsh will return home and start a 10-game home stand staring a week from today. The Cavs will host Lake Erie for a four-game series with a twin bill scheduled to start on Saturday at 1 p.m.
