KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Walsh University baseball team defeated the University of Mary on Wednesday (March 6) 11-0 in 7 innings. The Cavaliers then defeated Grand Valley 5-3 Thursday (March 7) to complete a three game winning streak.
Vs. Mary (March 6):
The Cavaliers had an explosive third inning which featured six hits and eight runs. The highlight of the inning was senior centerfielder Eric Conner's grand slam, which scored Joey Holiga, Bailey Mosley, Jarret Lyon. Conner, Holiga, and Andrew Czech all connected for three hits on the day.
Anthony Krokos recorded his first win of the season from the mound, as he pitched five innings only giving up two hits and striking out six batters. Frank Frate and Luke Miller pitched an inning each, neither one giving up a hit.
Vs. Grand Valley (March 7):
Grand Valley was ahead 3-0 heading into the top of the ninth inning. The Cavaliers put up a five run inning to come back and win 5-3. Avery Janning started the rally with a single to center field. Brenden Spaulding hit a triple to center field, platting two runners. Lyon doubled to left center, scoring Spaulding. Conner doubled to left center, scoring the final two runs of the contest.
The Walsh Cavaliers played this morning (March 8) at 9:00 AM against Northern State.
