Baseball falls twice against Malone

NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Walsh University baseball team faced the Pioneers of Malone this afternoon (March 27) in a G-MAC double-header. The Cavaliers fell 2-0 in the first game of the day and fell again 14-13 in the second game, despite a late run. 

Game One:

A largely defensive game featured the only two runs of the contest coming in the top of the sixth for the Pioneers. Turner Hill led off for the Pioneers, with a single to center field. Matt Noel then hit a home run, scoring Hill. Eric Mullet recorded the win from the mound, while Hyatt Shenefield took the loss for the Cavaliers.  

Game Two:

The Pioneers held a large lead heading into the bottom of the sixth, when the bats came to life for the Cavaliers, scoring seven runs. The Cavs were able to hold off Malone in the top of the seventh, and scored three more runs in the bottom of the inning, but fell short in their comeback. Brenden Spaulding recorded three hits and four RBIs to lead the Cavaliers. Anthony Krokos took the loss on the mound, putting his record at 2-2 on the season. Clyde Yoder recorded the win for the Pioneers and Clay Cooper earned the save.  

Walsh will head to Ohio Valley for double-headers on Friday (March 29) at 1:00 and 4:00 PM and Saturday (March 30) at 12:00 and 3:00 PM.
