Men's Basketball Falls Just Short in Season Opener

(ST. LOUIS, Missouri)- The Men's basketball team fell just short tonight in their season opener against The University of Missouri-St. Louis at the GLVC/GMAC Crossover tournament hosted by Maryville. The Maroon and Gold got outscored 22-10 in the final minutes of the game to fall 74-78.

Coming out strong for the Cavaliers was freshmen JT Shumate raking up 21 points and 8 rebounds in his first collegaite career game. Following right behind was Sterling Christy with 16 points and 7 boards for the night. Darryl Straughter tallied 12 points for the night and 5 rebounds and went 6 of 8 on the line. Conner Wess rounded out the starting for the Cavs with 9 points. Coming off the bench was Reece Bogan with 12 points and 7 rebounds.

Walsh returns to the court tomorrow to take on Maryville at 4 PM.
