Men's Basketball Falls Again in Missouri

(ST. LOUIS, Missouri) - Men's basketball came up short yesterday afternoon when they faced Maryville in the second game of the GLVC-G-MAC Crossover Tournament. The Cavs kept the game close early on, as it was tied 37-37 with four minutes left in the first half. The first half ended with Walsh trailing 47-40. Maryville went on a 16-0 run in the second half and despite the Cavs best efforts to come back, Maryville defeated Walsh 89-76.

Junior Mark Mokros was a huge assest off the bench as he led all Cavaliers scoring with 18 points. Junior forward Sterling Christy also had a solid game with 16 points and five assists. Freshman JT Shumate had his first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore guard Darryl Straughter and junior guard Conner Wess rounded out the double digit scoring with 12 and 11 points, respectively. 

Casey Teson of Maryville led all scorers with 26 points. Chaz Glotta and Eugene Jones followed with 18 and 17 points, respectively. 

The Cavs home opener will take place Tuesday at 7 p.m. when they take on Fraciscan University.
