Cavs Split on the Road Following 67-63 Loss at Trevecca

(NASHVILLE, Tennessee) - The Walsh men's basketball team took the lead on Trevecca in the first 20 seconds of the contest with a 3-pointer by JT Shumate. They held the lead for the entire game until the 12 minute mark of the second half, when the Trojans took the lead with a Deion Johnson layup to go up 46-45. After a back and forth battle in the final 12 minutes, the Cavs would eventually fall to the Trojans, 67-63. The loss puts the Cavs at 8-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play, while the Trojans cracked the win column to improve to 1-8 overall and 1-4 in the conference. 

Shumate led all scorers with 21 points, including five three-pointers, on 7-15 shooting from the field. Reece Bogan played a solid all-around game as he chipped in 12 points, while also securing six rebounds, and dishing out five assists. Sterling Christy garnered a game-high 12 rebounds, as well as adding five assists. Darryl Straughter joined Bogan and Christy in dishing out five assists on the evening. 

Trevecca's offense was powered by Evan Ragsdale's 17 points and Deion Johnson's 14 points.

The Cavs return home in the new year when they take on the Tiffin Dragons, Thursday, Jan.3 at 7:30 p.m.
