Men's Golf Finishes Eighth In First Spring Event

(MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.) – The Walsh men's golf team opened up the spring season at the Bash at the Beach tournament at the Surf Golf and Beach Club yesterday and today. The Cavaliers finished eighth in the three-round event with a score of 952.

Walsh improved upon every round after a 323 in the first, a 319 in the second, and finally a 310 in the third.

Newberry College took the top spot after staying No. 1 through all three rounds and finished with a total of 853. Charleston Southern finished one stroke back with an 854.

Drew Savage was the top golfer for the Maroon and Gold and was a stroke out of finishing in the top 10. He finished with a 217 to tie with Appalachian State's top golfer Tripp Summerlin. Savage had the best round of any of the Cavaliers with a 68 on the card for today.

Noah Frase also shot well with a 227 between a 73 and two 77s. Sam DiMeo was third for Walsh with a 253 and Jake Barth completed the team score with a 258. Austin King was the fifth player on the squad and scored a 266.

The Cavs will stay in the Palmetto State for Battle at the Beach at Myrtlewood Golf Club, also at Myrtle Beach, on Friday and Saturday.
