(CINCINNATI) – The Walsh men's lacrosse team were downed in its season opener against Lincoln Memorial by a score of 13-4 on a snowy Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers and Railsplitters (3-1) were playing on the neutral grounds of Elder High School.
Jake Shenderovsky put up the first goal for the Maroon and Gold this season with an equalizer 4:51 into the game on an assist from Kevin McMahon. That made the score 1-1, but the Cavaliers were unable to get over the hump and take the lead.
Lincoln Memorial scored the next two goals before Brydan Heisler scored unassisted with the first score of the second quarter with 12:06 left in the half. LMU added the next three goals before Benjamin Suchomma scored to make the score 6-3. Walsh was held off the books until the fourth quarter when Suchomma added his second with 11:44 to go. He added three ground balls and two caused turnovers on the day as well.
Noah Ross made his first start in goal and made 13 saves on 43 shots faced.
Walsh will be on the road once again next week when it travels to Molloy. Face-off is set for high noon on Saturday.
