(ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y.) – The Walsh men's lacrosse team ran into a tough Molloy squad and fell by a 13-4 count in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers are now 0-2 on the young season, while the Lions are now 1-2.
The Lions, whose two losses were to two nationally ranked top 10 teams, opened up the game with a five-goal first quarter. Defense then took control and held the Cavaliers' attack at bay. Walsh came around to score all four goals in the fourth quarter.
Benjamin Suchomma scored the first two in the first 1:35 of the frame. The first came just 31 seconds in on an assist from Frank Savena. The second was unassisted. Jake Cieszynski provided the third despite the Cavs being down a man. Jake Shenderovsky set the final score with his goal on the assist from Kevin Maxey.
Ciesynski did well in the face-off circle as he won 13-of-20 on the day.
The Cavaliers will return to action a week from today in their home opener against Roberts Wesleyan. Face-off with the Redhawks is set for 1 p.m.
