Men Lacrosse Defeated At Lake Erie

(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – The Walsh men's lacrosse team dropped its G-MAC opener at Lake Erie by a score of 22-10 on Wednesday afternoon. The Cavaliers fell to 0-6 overall, while the Storm, who was also playing in its first conference game, improved to 2-1 overall.

The Maroon and Gold was held off the scoreboard until the second quarter and went on a solid offensive stretch with 3-1 run. Jake Shenderovsky put the Cavs on the scoreboard first with a score with 5:43 to go in the first half. Less than a minute later, Maurice Kelly found the back of the net on an assist from Kevin Maxey. After a Storm goal, Shenderovsky scored a second with an assist from Kelly.

Kelly eventually scored a second with a score in the first five minutes of the third to start a 3-0 run by Walsh. Goals by Jimmy Gibson and Maxey followed, but Lake Erie returned the pressure offensively with the next four goals.

The fourth quarter was good for the Cavs as they outscored equaled Lake Erie 4-4 in the frame. Frank Savena added a pair while Brent Mitchell and Marcus Brown provided the final two scores for Walsh.

Walsh returns home for a St. Patrick's Day showdown against the Fighting Scots of Ohio Valley. Faceoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday.
