Cavs Fall At Chestnut Hill

(LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa.) – In its final non-conference game of the year, Walsh fell to Chestnut Hill by a score of 14-7 at Victory Field No. 1 on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers dropped to 1-8 on the campaign, while the Griffins improved to 3-5.

Kevin Maxey put the Cavaliers on the board early in the second quarter on an assist from Marcus Brown to make the score 2-1, but Chesnut Hill responded with the next five goals to close out the half. After the Griffins scored the opening goal of the third, Walsh found the back of the net once again on Jake Shenderovsky's strike with 10:41 to go in the frame.

The Cavs continued to exchange scores with Chestnut Hill with Sean Cavanaugh and Kevin McMahon also scoring goals. Shenderovsky, Maurice Kelly, and Cavanaugh all added goals in the fourth quarter as well.

Maxey and McMahon both had four-point days as each tallied a goal and three assists. Cavanaugh and Shenderovsky finished with two points on the day with two goals each.

Jake Ciesynski went .500 in the face-off circle on the day with 12 wins on 24 attempts. He added eight ground balls to lead all players. Noah Ross played the complete game between the pipes and made 12 saves on 42 shots faced.

Walsh is back on the gridiron on Tuesday, April 10, against Mercyhurst in the penultimate home game of the season. Face-off is set for 4 p.m.
