(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Last Sunday the Walsh men's lacrosse team hosted scrimmages with Albion, Muskingum, and Oberlin as part of Vs. Cancer in partnership with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation. Other teams around the nation held similar events to raise money for the organization in hopes of raising over $150,000.

Proceeds from the fundraising efforts will be used to fund local childhood cancer programs and national research projects to find life-saving cures for childhood cancers. Vs. Cancer, in partnership with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, ensures that half of every dollar raised goes to a local childhood cancer hospital in the local community. The other half funds research at the national level.
But the fundraising efforts weren't limited to last Sunday's event. This Sunday both of the Cavaliers' men's and women's lacrosse teams will compete in the ninth annual Breast 'Crosse Out Cancer event at the Johnson Controls Hall of Fame Village in Canton next to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
This year's event will showcase over 20 teams from all three NCAA divisions. Walsh is one of three teams that will have both men and women participating this year along with fellow G-MAC lacrosse member Seton Hill and Mount Union.
A total of 23 games are scheduled throughout the day with the first contest starting at 8:30 a.m. Tickets will be available at the ticket booth at the entrance to the fields and will be $15. One ticket will gain access to all contests played.
Other teams scheduled to participate this year include: Baldwin Wallace, Charleston (W.Va.), Findlay, Heidelberg, Hiram, Kenyon, Lake Erie, Marietta, Mercyhurst, Mount Union, Ohio Valley (W.Va.), Ohio Wesleyan, St. Bonaventure, Seton Hill, Thiel, Wahsington & Jefferson, and Wooster.
