(AMHERST, N.Y.) – The Walsh men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season as it fell to Daemen by a score of 2-1. Daemen kept the scoring balanced by scoring in both the first and second half. The Cavs are now 2-1-1 on the season while Daemen improved to 2-2.
Daemen started the scoring off early when Kristian Aadnoy found the back of the net in the 11th minute. Finn Krueger and Anthony Cupello recorded the assists. Walsh scored the equalizer goal as Myles Cornwall touched a crossing feed from JP Alexis in the 28th minute for his second goal of the season.
A header from Brage Wiik was all Daemen needed to close out the victory. Craig Buchanan fed from the post and allowed Wiik to get a head on the ball and find the back of the net.
Walsh had other chances to score, but Daemen's Jared Lecceadone recorded 3 saves. On the opposite end, Jon-Paul Della Pia made four saves.
The Cavaliers will continue their road trip as they head to the Mountain State to resume G-MAC play. Walsh will head to Elkins to take on Davis & Elkins this Wednesday with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m.
