(MORGANTOWN, W.Va.) – An early goal doomed Walsh as it fell 1-0 to hosting Salem at Mylan Park in the Mountain State on Tuesday afternoon. The game against the Tigers (7-5-2) was the final non-conference and road contest for the Cavaliers (7-8-1) in the regular season.
The only score came in the 13th minute as Federico Toschi took a pass from Chase Myrie on a cross from 14 yards out and was able to volley it in. It was one of just four shots on goal by the Tigers who outshot Walsh 11-10, but the Cavaliers had twice as many takes on the target.
Walsh pressured more in the second half as it outshot Salem 8-2 in the frame and took six corner kicks, but the Cavs weren't able to find the back of the net.
The Maroon and Gold will finally return home this weekend after six consecutive games on the road. The Cavs evenly split those games with a 3-3 record. Walsh will close the regular season with a pair of home games. The first of those will take place this Saturday against arch-rival Malone. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
