Cavs Upended By Malone In Overtime

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh suffered a heartbreaking loss to rival Malone by a score of 2-1 in overtime on Saturday afternoon at Milazzo Field. The Cavaliers (7-8-1, 4-7-1) were eliminated from postseason contention with the defeat to the Pioneers (5-9-1, 5-7-1).

The Maroon and Gold struck first as Myles Cornwall found the back of the net for the seventh time this season thanks to an assist from Steven Taylor. The goal game in the 24th minute and held up until the 74th when Malone eventually scored the equalizer.

The teams headed to overtime tied at 1-1, but the Pioneers pulled off the comeback with the golden goal just 1:16 into extra time.

Walsh will close out the year this Tuesday against Lake Erie at home. Kickoff with the Storm is set for 5 p.m.
