Men's Tennis Blanked By Florida Southern

(LAKELAND, Fla.) – The Walsh men's tennis team was shutout by Florida Southern in the Cavaliers' second match of spring break action today. The Cavaliers dropped to 6-6 on the season while the Mocs improved to 2-4.

The Cavaliers were close to snagging two points, but both Felix Zimmerman and Jose Fernandez fell in three sets to their opponents. Zimmerman, playing at No. 2 singles, narrowly lost the first set 7-6 with a 7-2 tiebreaker before he bounced back to even things up with a 6-4 win. In the third set tiebreaker, Zimmerman was edged by Jose de Sario 10-7.

At No. 5 singles, Fernandez battled Oscar Soderlund and won the first set 6-3, but lost the second and third by identical scores.

Walsh will take tomorrow off and head to Ave Maria on Wednesday for an 11 a.m. contest.
