(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – The Walsh men's tennis team opened up the season with a 6-3 victory over Wooster at the recently renovated Klekotka Tennis Complex on Sunday afternoon. The Cavaliers took a 2-1 lead after doubles and quickly won three matches in singles action to secure the win.
Vasily Vidmanov and Rodrigo Garcia won at first doubles by an 8-4 score over Titas Bera and Jesse DeWitt. Filipp Kulynych and Tim Bruin made that a 2-1 lead with an 8-1 win over Jorrit de Rouw and Vilius Sulnis.
Kulynych was the only Cavalier perfect on the day as he defeated Sulnis 6-0, 6-1 in singles at the four spot. Clemens Wagner added a 6-0, 6-2 win at second singles.
Walsh's final two point came at the five and six spots with Heitor Adegas and Guilherme Carneiro. Adegas took home a 6-2, 6-4 win at fives against Joaquin Abos. Carneiro defeated de Rouw with a pair of impressive 6-1, 6-2 sets.
The Cavs will return to action against a familiar foe in former conference rival Tiffin. The Dragons will visit North Canton this Wednesday with first serve set for 2 p.m.
