Men's Tennis Falls at Florida Southern

(LAKELAND, Fla.) – The Walsh men's tennis team fell to Florida Southern in its final match of spring break by a count of 8-1 on Thursday. The Cavaliers are now 5-6, while the Mocs are 1-4.

The lone victory came at third doubles where Filipp Kulynych and Guilherme Carneiro defeated the duo of Blaine Miller and Victor Ahlbeck. It ended up being one of the most exciting matches of the day as the Cavs were able to take a 9-7 victory.

Carneiro was close to being perfect on the day, but fell in a third-set tiebreaker with Oscar Soderlund in sixth singles. Carneiro won the first 6-3, but fell 6-1 and 10-8 in the next two.

It was one of three singles matches to have a third-set tiebreaker. Vasily Vidmanov fell at first singles 6-7, 6-1, 10-4 while Rodrigo Garcia lost in a similar 6-7, 6-4, 10-4 count.

Walsh returns to action in its G-MAC Opener a week from Saturday as it hosts the Hillsdale Chargers.
