(CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh won the first of two consecutive matches against Cedarville by a score of 7-2 at the North Canton Racquet Club on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers are now 8-11 on the season and even at 3-3 within the G-MAC. The Yellow Jackets are now 5-12 overall and 1-5 in the conference.
All three doubles matches proved to be competitive with all three decided by three or fewer games. However, Walsh took the 2-1 advantage after the Cavs picked up a pair of 8-5 victories at the second and third spots. Rodrigo Garcia and Guilherme Carneiro paired for the second doubles win, while Clemens Wagner and Jonah Carter teamed at thirds.
The Cavaliers easily laid claim to the match with wins in five of the six singles matches. Garcia went perfect on the day after he took a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles against Philip Brumbaugh. Carneiro was also perfect with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Jeremy Hoover in the sixth spot.
The two teams will meet again this Friday with Cedarville serving as the host.
