NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Walsh Cavaliers men's tennis team earned their first win of the 2018-19 season, a 6-1 win over the Daemen Wildcats on Saturday (Feb. 16) afternoon.
Jakob Riglewski won the first singles match over Ricardo Ruiz Martinez by a score of 6-2, 6-4. Clemens Wagner dropped the second singles match in a close manner to Fabian Wilde. Wagner fell 4-6, 7-5, 0-1 (8-10) in a three set match. Dawson Drummond was the victor in a third singles bout against Jose Williamson III, 6-3, 6-2. Alex Medina won his fourth singles match by retirement and Tim Bruin also won by default in sixth singles. In the fifth singles spot, Guilherme Carneiro won 6-3, 6-3 over James Schaab-Rozbicki.
Riglewski and Pedro Campos began the doubles matches with a 6-4 victory over Williamson III and Wilde. Joao Campos and Bruin were 6-1 winners over Schaab-Rozbicki and Ruiz Martinez in second doubles. Drummond and Carneiro won by default in the third doubles slot.
The Cavaliers will hit the road on Monday (Feb. 18) morning for a road match against former GLIAC foe, Northwood at 11:00 AM.
