Men's Track Finishes Second At Wooster

(WOOSTER, Ohio) – The Walsh men's track and field team finished second at the Wooster Invitational on Friday and Saturday with a team score of 121. The Cavaliers finished second only two Mount Union who scored 227.5.

In the track events, Solomon Yoder breezed to a win in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:56.40. Jacob Caniford and Spencer Wirick took the top two places in the 5,000 meter run. Caniford won the event with a time of 15:13.70, while Wirick clocked in at 15:20. Jacob Kernell easily won the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9.38.94.

Daizon Earl finished fifth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 52.41. Austin Patrick was fifth in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:14.58.

Phil Burt finished third in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 58.25. Alex Bates was fifth with a time of 59.87.

In the relays, Walsh finished second in the 4x400 with the quartet of Alex Bates, Jacob Murphy, Chad Justus, and Sherman Kortze completing the event with a time of 3:26.36.

In the field events, Zane Tolbert was fifth in the high jump with a height of 1.68 meters.

Andrew Dowdell was second in the pole vault with a height of 4.46 meters.

James Miller was second in the shot put with a throw of 15.68 meters. Dante Penza was fifth in the same event with a mark of 14.41 meters.

All-American Marcus Myers easily won the hammer throw with a distance of 57.95 meters. Penza was second in the same event at 48.58 meters. Bradley Gallitz was fourth at 47.47 meters.
