Kernell, Williams Win Events At Mount Union

(ALLIANCE, Ohio) - The Walsh men's track & field team visited nearby Mount Union to participate in the Homon Open. A pair of Cavaliers took home first as Jacob Kernell and Hunter Williams won the 3,000 meter steeplechase and the 200 meter dash, respectively.

Kernell won the steeplechase event with a time of 9:34.49, while Williams won the 200 meters with a time of 22.14.

Elsewhere, Antonio Tate finished second in the long time with a best distance of 7.07 meters. James Miller took third in the shot put with a throw of 16.26 meters. Solomon Yoder was third in the 800 meters with a time of 1:54.

The 4x400 meter relay team of Williams, Yoder, Chad Justus and Sherman Kortze took home bronze with a time of 3:21.82.

The Cavaliers will return to action in a pair of meets next week. On Friday, select Cavaliers will head to Bucknell to participate in the Bison Invitational. On Saturday, Walsh will host its own invitational with 16 schools set to attend.
