Men's Track Runners-Up In Walsh Invitational

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Sixteen schools all met at Milazzo Field for the Walsh Invitational with the Cavaliers finishing well in both men's and women's events. On the men's side, the Cavaliers finished second with 99 points. Mount Union won the event with 187 points.

Walsh's 4x400 relay teams shined as its A and B teams finished in the top two spots. Hunter Williams, Solomon Yoder, Chad Justus, and Sherman Kortze scored first place with a time of 3:23.05. Seth Wieland, Daizon Earl, Brandyn Neal, and Phil Burt clocked in just shy of them at 3:23.49.

The 4x100 meter relay team consisting of Seth Wieland, Hunter Williams, Trenton Beachy, and Kwami Adoboe-Herrera finished fifth with a time of 42.32.

Hunter Williams was third in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.24. He followed up later in the day with a fourth-place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.88.

Sherman Kortze was sixth in the 400 meter with a time of 49.47. Solomon Yoder won the 800 meter run with a time of 1:55.03.

Nick Marino and Austin Patrick went four and five in the 1,500 meter run. Marino ran the event in 4:05.98 while Patrick followed at 4:06.28.

Phil Burt was runner-up in the 400 meter hurdles. He clocked in at 57.05 for eight points. Alex Bates was sixth in the same event with a time of 58.27 for three.

Alexander Reimund finished fifth in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:08.08. Bryce Patrick squeezed out a point in the event with an eighth place finish on a time of 10:20.09.

In the field events, All-American Marcus Myers won the hammer throw with a distance of 63.11. He was also second in the discus with a throw of 48.70 meters. Bradley Gallitz was also in the hammer and threw 51.98 for fifth place. Dante Penza and Derek Stout were seventh and eighth with distances of 49.81 and 47.33 meters, respectively.

Ronald Robinson finished fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 13.36 meters. James Miller was fourth in the shot put with a throw of 14.99 meters. In the javelin, Andrew Dowdell finished eighth with a throw of 44.58 meters.
