Yoder, Relays Win at Slippery Rock

(SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.) – Despite threatening weather and constant delays, the Walsh track & field took part in the Slippery Rock Open with many athletes performing well.

On the men's side of action, Solomon Yoder was first in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:55.02. Both of Walsh's relays did well with first place finishes in both events. The 4x100 meter team won with a time of 41.83. The 4x400 meter team won with a time of 3:20.78.

Alexander Reimund finished fourth in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:09.18. Nick Marino was third in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 16:04.26. Jacob Turner was right behind him at 16:05.51. Phil Burt was third in the 400 meter run with a time of 56.58.

In field events, Dante Penza was second in the hammer throw with a throw of 50.85 meters. Derek Stout was fifth at 46.88 meters. James Miller was third in the shot put with a throw of 14.65 meters. Bradley Gillitz was fifth in the same event with a throw of 14.01 meters. Ronald Robinson was fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 13.55 meters.

Walsh will be in action through the weekend as it participates in the Jesse Owens Invitational at Ohio State University.
