(ALLENDALE, Mich.) – After the first full day of competition at the GLIAC Track & Field Outdoor Championships, Walsh is in seventh place with 10 points. Ashland leads the field with 55 points. Indoor national champion Tiffin is second with 44.
The Cavaliers had to placers on the day. Jacob Kernell turned in a third place performance in the steeplechase with a time of 9:24.55. Marcus Myers placed fifth in the hammer throw with a distance of 61.82 meters. He reached that mark on his sixth and final throw.
Preliminary events also took place where Walsh advanced athletes to tomorrow's finals. The Cavs' 4x100 meter relay team finished fifth with a time of 42.15. The quartet consisted of Trenton Beach, Daizon Earl, Seth Wieland, and Hunter Williams. Sherman Kortze advanced in the 400 meter dash with a time of 49.34.
The Championships will resume and conclude tomorrow from Grand Valley State.
