(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh will be hosting its first G-MAC Championship event since joining the conference last season when teams gather for the cross country championships tomorrow at GlenOak High School. The women's race will start things off at 11 a.m. with 14 teams competing for the title. The men will follow at noon with 13 teams racing.
The course is wide open and spectator-friendly. The starting line will be near the church adjacent to the tennis courts just off of Easton Road with the finish line right at the 50-yard line of GlenOak's football stadium.
The Cavaliers are expected to do well in both events as the men enter as the defending conference champion. They narrowly edged out Malone by one point for the crown with four runners in the top 10 and all five in the top 13.
The women were runners-up in 2017 as Hillsdale took first, but the Maroon and Gold have been improving throughout the year and have been consistent in finishing strong in big meets. Most recently they finished ahead of the Chargers in the Pre-National Meet at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, home of the national championships.
Both teams are ranked in the top 25 nationally with the women at No. 15 and the men at No. 20 in the most recent USTFCCCA polls.
