(CLERMONT, Fla.) – The Walsh softball team dropped both contests Friday by scores of 5-2 to Lewis and 10-8 to Quincy on the second-to-last day of action in the Sunshine State for spring break. The Cavaliers are now 6-11 on the season.
Against the Flyers (10-4), the Cavaliers took a 2-0 lead before the Flyers scored five unanswered. Walsh scored solo runs in the third and fourth before Lewis answered with one in the fourth and scored four in the sixth.
In the second game, Walsh scored seven of its eight runs in the final three innings in a thriller. The Cavs tied the game with two runs in the sixth before the Hawks scored sixth in the seventh to take a 10-4 lead. Walsh rallied with four runs, but could get no closer. Roten continued her strong day with three RBI on two hits with a double in four at-bats. She also scored two runs in the nightcap.
The Cavaliers will close out the spring break games with contests against Illinois-Springfield and Kutztown on Saturday.
