Cavaliers Split With Dragons On Senior Day

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – The Walsh softball team snapped a six-game losing streak and ended Senior Day on a high note with a 6-1 win over Tiffin Tuesday afternoon. The win forced a split between the Cavaliers (10-29, 2-14) and the Dragons (16-24, 3-12) after the visitors won the opener 5-0.

Nikki Newman put the Cavaliers on the scoreboard first with an RBI that brought in Rebekah Hoffee with two outs. One batter later, Abby Reusser doubled to left center to bring in Jenna Head.

After Tiffin scored one in the bottom of the second, Walsh answered with three more in the third. Head doubled to center to bring in Abbey Yaugher before Kendra Moore doubled to right center to score Head and Kirsten Reed.

Walsh added an insurance run in the sixth when Newman scored on an error.

Ryan Kuula picked up the win to improve to 5-9 on the season. Shelbi Gregg recorded the save.

Walsh will be back in action tomorrow against rival Malone. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m. in Canton.
