(NORTH CANTON, OHIO)- The Cavaliers battled cold temperatures and rain to defeat the Storm of Lake Erie by scores of 5-2 and 10-8. This game was originally supposed to be played in Painsville, but was moved to North Canton due to field conditions.
In Game one, Alex Depue and Alaina Manor led off with back to back singles. A sacrifice bunt by Jessie Rock moved runners into scoring position allowing Annie Woolf to score Depue on a sacrifice fly to left. Brooke Six followed with a single to center scoring Manor. Woolf picked up another RBI on a single to left scoring pinch-runner Cali Frascone. Frascone was running for Rock who walked earlier that inning. Back to back doubles by Leah Roten and Yaugher are what lead to the final two runs for the Cavaliers.
Olivia Pifer (9-5) went the distance for the Cavaliers striking out five and scattering five hits while giving up one earned run.
Walsh got on the board in Game Two on a double by Rock that scores Manor and Depue. Walsh broke the game open in the fourth scoring seven runs. All but one run in the fourth came by way of a passed ball, wild pitches, and an error. The lone RBI of the inning came on a fielder's choice off the bat of Manor scoring Yasmine Rivera. Depue legged out a single to the pitcher scoring Rebekah Hoffee.
A trio of Cavalier pitchers lead Walsh to the victory. Shelbi Gregg started in the circle going two innings giving up one hit and striking out two. Ryan Kuula (4-1) picked up the win throwing 3.1 innings. Olivia Pifer picked up her third save of the season working the final four outs of the game.
The Cavaliers were scheduled to play at Ursuline tomorrow, but the game has been postponed due to the impending weather. The Maroon and Gold will travel to Michigan Tuesday to take on Hillsdale. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
