Women's Golf Opens Spring Season in Tampa

(TAMPA, Florida) - The Walsh University Women's Golf team opened their Spring season in Tampa today at the Saddlebrook Spring Kickoff. The Cavaliers, who are cohosting the event with Ferris State, opened up round one of the 54 hole event with a team total of 369. 

Leading the way for the Maroon and Gold was Senior Michele Vlacovsky with a 86. Amanda Scala, playing as an individual, also shot 86 for the Cavaliers. Fighting thru the wind on day one, Vlacovsky and Scala ended round one tied for 7th overall, respectively.

Also contributing for the Cavaliers in round one were Kayleigh McHugh with a 91 and Kerra Loomis with a 93.  Also adding to the Cavaliers team total were Alexis Green and Lauren Hatfield with 99 a piece.

Northern Michigan University is leading the field with a team total of 336 after round one.  Amanda Johansson, 78, was the only player in the field to shoot in the 70's after the opening round.

Play resumes tomorrow for Round 2 at 7:30am.
