(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – A four-goal run by the opposition in the middle of the second half doomed Walsh as it fell 17-14 in the season opener to Wooster Wednesday evening. The high-scoring affair served as the season opener for both schools.
The Cavaliers used a 5-2 run to begin the second half and tie the game at 10-10, but after both teams equally exchanged the next four goals, the Fighting Scots found the back of the net four-straight times before Emma Armour ended the run on an assist from Sarah McCormick.
Maria Nobile followed with a goal to make the score 16-14 with 3:18 to go in the game despite being down a player, but Walsh was unable to cut the deficit anymore the rest of the way.
The Maroon and Gold attack was well-balanced as Aly Jajack led the way with three goals and two assists. Including Armour and Nobile, both Margaret Anderson, McCormick, and Lane Brunkala all scored multiple goals as well. McCormick also tallied four assists for six points.
The Cavs will return to action against another group of Fighting Scots this Saturday as they host future conference rival Ohio Valley. First draw is set for noon.
