(HILTON HEAD, S.C.) – Spring break proved to be record breaking for the Walsh women's lacrosse team as it defeated Randolph 16-0 this afternoon. Not only did the Cavaliers (3-1) start off the break with a record 21 goals against Ohio Valley, but the shutout of the Wildcats (0-3) was the first in program history.
The Maroon and Gold didn't take long to get the offense rolling once again and blitzed Randolph 12-0 in the opening half to force a running clock at the end and for the duration of the second half. The Cavaliers sported the fourth-best scoring offense in the nation heading into the game with 18.33 goals per contest.
Mikaela Faus recorded the win between the pipes with five saves on five shots faced in 45 minutes.
The Cavs controlled the tempo of the game from the start and almost always had possession as they led Randolph 14-2 in draw controls and 8-3 in the turnover department.
Walsh will return to northeast Ohio and travel to Lyndhurst to take on Notre Dame College on Wednesday. The opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
