Women's Lacrosse Win-Streak Snapped By Charleston

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh fell in its bid to win four-straight with a 12-8 defeat to visiting Charleston at Vasco Field Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers dropped to 3-2 on the year, while the Golden Eagles are now 2-6.

Defense proved strong for the first part of the game as neither team scored until 14 minutes into the game when Charleston's Megan Sheesley put the visitors up 1-0 on an unassisted strike. The Eagles eventually went up 4-0 before Lane Brunkala put the Cavs on the board with a goal just before the half. That made the score 4-1 before UC added one more to make the game 5-1 at the half.

The Cavs came out firing on all cylinders to start the second half as Brunkala, Emma Armour, and Maria Nobile scored the first three goals to put Walsh within one. Brunkala's goal came on a free position attempt down a player.

The momentum was short lived as Charleston scored six of the next seven goals to take control of the game.

Nobile led the team with three goals. Armour and Brunkala had two each.

Mikaela Faus garnered 14 saves on 33 shots on the defensive end. Kendra Cowen-Tripp recorded three draw controls. Danielle Acuna caused three turnovers.

Walsh will host future conference rival Alderson Broaddus this Friday for its second of four-straight home games. First draw is set for 5 p.m.
