(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh's five-game win streak was snapped at the hands of McKendree as the Maroon and Gold fell 20-7 in its GLIAC opener on Thursday evening. The Cavaliers (7-3, 0-1) and Bearcats (6-4, 2-0) were originally scheduled for tomorrow, but impending weather forced the game to be moved up to today.
The Cavaliers battled the visitors close in the early goings of the game and were tied with them at 3-3 after a pair of Maria Nobile goals knotted things up. However McKendree caught fire and went on a 7-0 run to take control of the game.
Jenny Spragg was able to score on a man-up opportunity just before the half to make the score 10-4, but Walsh was unable to get any closer.
The Cavs will continue their five-game home stand this Sunday when they host Indianapolis. Opening draw is set for 12 p.m.
