Women's Lacrosse Falls In Season Opener at SCAD

(HARDEEVILLE, S.C.) – Walsh fell short in its season opener by a score of 17-8 to the Savannah College of Art and Design on the road on Saturday afternoon. SCAD remained unbeaten on the early season as the Bees improved to 3-0.

The hosts jumped out to an early lead and limited the Cavaliers' offensive opportunities over the first 15 minutes of the game. Jenny Spragg eventually got the Maroon and Gold on the scoreboard with 14:56 to go in the period. From that point on, Walsh and SCAD exchanged goals for the rest of the game.

Emma Armour led Walsh with three goals while Spragg and Kendra Cowen-Tripp both finished with two. Sarah McCormick accounted for the remaining Cavalier goal to go with five draw controls.

Rebecca Tomaszewski was in goal and made 10 saves on the afternoon.

Walsh will return to action this Tuesday when it heads down I-77 to take on the University of Charleston in the state capital of West Virginia. The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
