Cavs Take Down West Virginia Wesleyan 13-5

(BUCKHANNON, Ohio) – In the final non-conference game of the season, Walsh defeated West Virginia Wesleyan College by a score of 13-5 at Cebe Ross Field on Friday evening. The Cavaliers improved to 7-3 on the season, while the Bobcats fell to 4-4-1.

Once again the Cavaliers used a balanced offensive attack and never trailed in the game. Lane Brunkala, Sarah McCormick, and Emma Armour all provided goals to give Walsh a quick 3-0 lead in the first 10 minutes.

After the Bobcacts answered with a goal themselves, Skylar Crandell and Kendra Cowen-Tripp also added goals. Becky Parker became the sixth player to score and did so just 27 second before the half to give the Maroon and Gold a 6-2 lead at the halftime break.

In the second half, West Virginia Wesleyan scored the first two goals to make it a two-goal game, but the Cavaliers answered on 7-0 run to put the game out of reach.

Armour led the offense with a pair of goals and an assist for three points. McCormick, Cowen-Tripp, Sam Paulson, and Alyssa Tomkins all had multiple-point games as well.

Mikaela Faus picked up the win and came up with 15 saves on 22 shots faced.

Walsh is back in action on Sunday when it takes on Findlay at 2 p.m.
