(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Senior Day couldn't have gone much better for Walsh as it dominated Davis & Elkins 21-1 in the final home game of the season. The Cavaliers (9-4, 6-2) guaranteed their first winning regular season in program history with the win over the Senators (2-8, 2-6) and set a new record for margin of victory as well.
It was all Maroon and Gold right from the start as it took just over a minute for Sarah McCormick to find the back of the net on an assist from Jenny Spragg to put the Cavaliers up for good. Coach Christy Mitchell's squad ended up scoring three more goals by the time the first five minutes had elapsed.
The Cavaliers went on to outscore the Senators 13-0 in the first half. The second half was largely similar to the first with the only exception being a free position shot that Davis & Elkins scored on 49 seconds into the period.
The offense was well-spread as 12 different Cavaliers scored goals. McCormick led the team with six points on three goals and three assists. Becky Parker followed with five on four goals and an assist, as did Spragg and Emma Armour with one goal and four assists each.
Lane Brunkala joined Armour in the 100-goal club as she found the back of the net four times on the day. She achieved the feat early on in the second half.
On the defensive end, Mikaela Faus started the game and went 40 minutes with a pair of saves before Rebecca Tomaszewski entered and made another pair. McCormick once again led the team with six draw controls, while Amanda Hodel and Luisa Landaverde added three ground balls each.
The Cavaliers now close the regular season with four consecutive games on the road. First up will be Findlay this Tuesday with a scheduled start of 4 p.m.
