Women's Soccer Rolls To Third-Straight Shutout

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Another streak is forming as Walsh recorded a third consecutive shutout for the second time this season with a 2-0 victory over Tiffin Thursday evening. The Cavaliers (6-2-1, 5-1-1) played a Dragons (0-9-1, 0-7-1) squad much better than their record indicates and was able to score a pair of goals early to take the lead.

The Walsh attack has been impressive in the last three games with the offense providing 11 goals during the streak. Brianna Sanborn and Corynne Swift made up the duo to score the goals on this night with both coming on assists from Olivia Peters.

The first came just 5:32 into the game as Peters sent a ball into the box with a bunch of traffic. Sanborn was able to get the final touch for the quick lead. Six minutes later, Peters sailed in another beautiful pass on a corner kick where Swift was waiting in the box.

For Sanborn, it was her team-best fifth goal of the season while Swift scored her first of the year. Peters has been a key figure in setting up the scores as she now has seven assists to lead the team.

That was all the Maroon and Gold defense needed as they recorded their seventh shutout of the season and their sixth of a G-MAC opponent. The back line wasn't pressured too much as Tiffin was limited to just four shots on the night with only two on goal. Meanwhile the Cavalier offense only got stronger and pelted 19 shots at the Dragon defense.

Walsh now starts a stretch of four consecutive games on the road starting Saturday at Findlay. Kickoff with the Oilers is tabbed for 1 p.m.
