Women's Tennis Takes Down Eckerd To Start Spring Break

(ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.) -  The Walsh women's tennis team opened spring break on the right foot with an impressive 6-3 victory over hosting Eckerd on Sunday. The Cavaliers (5-11) won their first contest of the semester with the defeat of the Tritons.

The Maroon and Gold started off the match with wins in two of the three doubles contests. Sofya Logunova and Mercedes Fernandez defeated Emily Fridrik and Joyce Fields easily by a score of 8-2. Daria Bondareva and Snezhana Kiseleva took down Laurance Bourgault and Maddie Carlson in thirds by a score of 8-4 for the 2-1 lead heading into singles action.

Logunova, Fernandez, Bondareva, and Kiseleva all remained perfect on the day with wins at first, second, third, and sixth singles, respectively.

Walsh will return to the courts against St. Petersburg College on Monday.
