Women's Tennis Falls at Davis & Elkins

(ELKINS, W.Va.) – The Walsh women's tennis team fell in its penultimate match of the 2016-17 season by a score of 6-3 to Davis & Elkins on Tuesday afternoon. The Cavaliers dropped to 6-14, while the Senators improved to 9-10.

Daria Bondareva went perfect on the day as her stellar career with the Cavaliers comes to a close. She started off the day paired with Snezhana Kiseleva at No. 2 doubles and took a dominating 8-2 win over Amanda Fewster and Haleigh Carper.

She followed up in singles action with a win over Ester Bolmenas at No. 3 singles. Bondareva took the first set 6-4 before she shut out her opponent in the second 6-0.

Mercedes Fernandez provided the final point for the Cavaliers with a win over Elise Simon at No. 2 singles. She had a difficult first set, but still pulled through with a 7-6 (7-4) victory before a 6-0 win in the second.

The Cavaliers will close out the season tomorrow at Case Western.
