OWENSBORO, Kentucky - For the second straight year, the Walsh Cavaliers battled the Hillsdale Chargers in the G-MAC Women's Tennis Final. On Saturday (April 27), the top seeded Chargers won the title match over the #2 Cavaliers 4-1 at Centre Courts.
Mercedes Fernandez and Nicole Beidacki was victorious in the first doubles match over Halle Hyman and Katie Bell 6-3. Hillsdale won the second and third doubles matches, to win the double point and take a 1-0 lead.
Hillsdale gained a 2-0 lead with a fifth singles point. Walsh got a singles point with a win in fourth singles as Clara Drasch defeated Bell 6-3, 6-3. Walsh closed the gap to 2-1 but the Chargers won the second and sixth singles bouts for a 4-1 win.
Walsh ended the season at 16-9 after they reached seventh in the regional rankings entering the Tournament.
