Berger, Lehotay Lead Cavs In Final GLIAC Championship Meet

(ALLENDALE, Mich.) – The Walsh women's track and field team closed out an impressive GLIAC Outdoor Championship Meet with two of its stars taking home awards. All-Americans Sarah Berger and Andra Lehotay were both honored as Berger was named Female Track Athlete of the Meet and Lehotay was named Freshman Track Athlete of the Meet.

Berger helped nail down the award on the final day of competition as she repeated as the 1,500 meter champion with a time of 4:29.55.

Lehotay added a second place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:10.36 to give Walsh eight points. She was also third in the 1,500 meter run with a time of 4:30.57, missing out on second by just a couple tenths of a second.

Katie Mokros was a two-time placer as well on the day. She finished seventh in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.12 and followed with an eighth place finish in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.18.

Morrisa Mallory added a seventh place finish in the shot put with a throw of 13.7 meters, or 44 feet 11.5 inches.

Walsh finished seventh in the team standings with 64 points. Grand Valley State won the championship with 185.5 points. Findlay was second with 87.
