Barber, Berger Named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans

(AUSTIN, Texas) – Juniors Kaitlyn Barber and Sarah Berger have repeated their honors as CoSIDA Academic All-Americans for Division II Track & Field/Cross Country for the 2016-17 season. Both star athletes were named to the Second Team this season, the second time Berger has earned such honors while Barber was a Third Team selection a year ago.

Kaitlyn Barber, a native of Toledo, Ohio, holds a 3.96 G.P.A. in pre-physical therapy (biology) and is a three-time All-American in the pole vault. She recently placed fourth in the pole vault at the outdoor national championships with a height of 4.03 meters, or 13 feet 2 ½ inches, a new personal best.

A native of Wadsworth, Ohio, Sarah Berger is a pre-med/biology major with a 3.90 G.P.A. Berger is a five-time All-American in track & field and all-region in four different sports (women's soccer, cross country, indoor track & field and outdoor track & field) and is a member of the Walsh distance medley relay team that set a new program standard during the 2016-17 season with the fourth-best time in NCAA Division II history. She also finished runner-up in the outdoor 1,500 meter run for the second consecutive year.

Together, both helped Walsh finish ninth at the indoor national championships and 20th at the outdoor national championships.
