Volleyball Scores Pair of Wins In Home Openers

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh opened up its Cavalier Classic with a pair of wins in the first home matches of the season today. The Cavaliers (5-1) defeated former conference rival Roberts Wesleyan 25-20, 25-17, 25-13 and followed up with a come-from-behind win over Fort Hays State 20-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-19.

In the opener, Paola Ferrario led the attack with 15 kills on 22 attempts for an impressive .591 kill percentage. Lauren Loucks joined her in double digits with 11 for a .625 success rate. Amanda Adoranti dug up 14 balls to lead the defense.

A quartet of Cavaliers reached double-digit kills in the second match with Loucks leading the way with 15. Justine Coffman contributed 13, Gina Kramer added 11, and Ferrario downed 10. Adoranti hit the 25-dig mark, while Olivia Zanolli recorded 50 assists.

Walsh returns to action tomorrow morning at 11 to take on Seton Hill. The Cavs will close out the tournament with Pitt-Johnstown at 3 p.m.
