Walsh Splits Final Day of Cavalier Classic

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Walsh closed out a successful Cavalier Classic with a split by defeating previously unbeaten Seton Hill 3-1 before falling to Pitt-Johnstown 3-1. The Cavaliers are now 6-2 on the season as it heads into conference play.

The Cavaliers opened up the day by extending their win streak to four with the victory over the Griffins. The Maroon and Gold took the first two sets 25-19 and 25-21 before falling 31-29 in the third. The Cavs were able to rebound and take set four by a score of 25-19.

A trio of Cavaliers reached double-digits in kills with Lauren Loucks and Gina Kramer each tallying 15. Paola Ferrario added 11. Olivia Zanolli was a set shy of 50 assists. Amanda Adoranti dug up 28 balls with Erica Schiets recording 15.

In the tournament finale, Walsh met with Pitt-Johnstown in a battle of tournament unbeatens. The Cavs battled close in each set but fell 25-20, 25-21, 23-25, 25-22.

This time around Ferrario led the attack with 15 kills. Justine Coffman added 10. Adoranti added 16 digs and Zanolli picked up 10.

Coffman and Loucks were both named to the All-Tournament Team. Walsh was one of three teams to have multiple selections.

The Cavs won't have much time off before returning to action. They'll head south to take on rival Malone on Tuesday. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
