(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – It didn't take long for Walsh to get back into the win column as it defeated Ursuline in four sets in G-MAC action Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers (13-3, 7-1) defeated the Arrows (5-13, 1-7) by scores of 25-12, 25-21, 18-15, 25-9.
It also didn't take long for the Cavaliers to build up momentum as they jumped out to a 6-0 run in the opening set aided by a pair of aces by Olivia Zanolli. Walsh kept the pressure on and didn't let the Arrows get closer than five points the rest of the way.
Ursuline was able to play closer in the second set, but still was unable to get a lead as the Cavs eventually led by seven at 21-14 before securing the 25-21 win.
The Arrows were able to take the third set after a strong rally to start the game, but Walsh rebounded in impressive fashion and make quick work of the fourth set by limiting the visitors to single digits. Walsh closed the match on a 9-0 run with four consecutive Paola Ferrario kills sandwiched around a pair of Ursuline errors and three consecutive Hallie Schroeder kills.
Lauren Loucks had the best match of her season with 18 kills and an attack percentage of .412. Ferrario added 11 on the day, while Justine Coffman was one shy of double-digits. Olivia Zanolli continued her fantastic season with 48 assists on the day.
Defensively, Amanda Adoranti led the team with 23 digs, while Zanolli picked up 12. Zanolli also led the team with three blocks.
The Cavaliers will now prepare for their penultimate conference road trip of the season as they head to Cedarville and Ohio Dominican next week. First up will be a date with the Yellow Jackets on Friday at 7 p.m.
