Volleyball Downed By Lake Erie In Four

(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – A shot at the East Division championship slipped through Walsh's hands as it fell to Lake Erie in four sets at the Osborne Center on Friday evening. The Cavaliers (19-10, 12-5) fell to the Storm (24-8, 14-3) 25-16, 21-25, 25-23, 25-12.

The Cavs needed to win tonight and tomorrow to win the divisional crown. Either way, Walsh has already clinched a bid to next week's G-MAC Tournament to be hosted by either Hillsdale or Findlay.

Walsh did well to bounce back after an opening set loss to equal the match in the second. The third started out well for the Cavs as they jumped out to a 6-2 lead thanks to back-to-back kills by Justine Coffman followed by an error on the Storm's Lexi Lombardo.

Despite the Storm coming back to tie the set at 9-9, the Cavs went back up 18-11 after Gina Kramer capped a 6-1 rally with a kill. However, Lake Erie stormed back and eventually tied the game at 22-22 before it took the win.

Kramer led the Cavaliers with 11 kills on the day. Lauren Loucks followed with 10 kills herself. Olivia Zanolli set up the attack with 35 assists.

On the defensive front. Amanda Adoranti dug up a career-best 30 attacks. Erica Schiets and Hallie Schroeder joined her in double-digits with 18 and 12, respectively.

Walsh will head back north tomorrow to take on Ursuline in the regular season finale. First serve is set for 1 p.m. Playoff seedings will be known at the end of the day.
