(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) - The Walsh Cavaliers capped off an impressive weekend with two wins in the Cavalier Classic today. They won their first match of the day against first-year program Bloomsburg in three sets. The Cavaliers breezed to the victory with wins of 25-17, 25-23, and 29-27 in the first three sets.
The Cavs battled University of Pittsburgh Johnstown in a tough match for the last match of the day. Walsh went back and forth with the Mountain Cats, taking it into four sets before securing the win 25-20, 26-28, 25-21, 25-23.
"It really helped for us to be home. We were a little bit more comfortable. We were able to step back into our comfort zone which was nice," said Head Coach Kassie Kadera after the team's third win in two days. "We came out with a little bit more emotional energy which really helped and we came out with a lot of momentum swings on our side which was nice to see.
"The team was playing as a team this weekend, which was a little bit of a change from the weekend prior and we were able to bounce back from tough situations for the most part with the exception of last night's match, which was a grind in and of itself, but I thought it was a well-fought battle. It just didn't work out in our favor."
The Cavaliers now begin conference play at Cedarville on Wednesday, Sept. 5.
