(CEDARVILLE, Ohio) – No. 10 Walsh punched a ticket to the national championships as it finished third in the Midwest Regional championships hosted by Cedarville today. The Cavaliers finished with 105 points with Sarah Berger winning the individual title to give them their first national championship appearance.
Grand Valley State and G-MAC champion Hillsdale finished first and second with 46 and 81 points, respectively.
Berger was impressive once again in her championship run as she crossed the finish line with a time of 21:19.3. Her closest competitor was Hillsdale's Hannah McIntyre who finished six seconds behind her.
Andra Lehotay and Brianna Coy joined her as All-Region picks with top 25 finishes. Lehotay was 11th individually with a time of 21:57.3, just two seconds away from a top 10 finish. Coy was 21st with a time of 22:05.9.
Completing the team score for Walsh were Chelsea Johnson and Tori Reeves. Johnson finished with a time of 22:41.3 in 35th place. Reeves was right there in that pack and finished two spots back with a time of 22:42.4
The Cavs' first national championship appearance in Division II will take place in two weeks. Southern Indiana will serve as the host with the race being held at Angel Mounds on November 18.
